The role: Technical Lead/Manager
As a Technical Lead/Manager, you will own and drive technical projects and provide leadership for a group of 8-15 engineers in an innovative and fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for the overall planning, execution and success of complex technical projects. Our engineering teams work on problems in a number of areas, including cutting-edge information retrieval algorithms, large-scale cluster computing, systems software and mobile applications.
This position is not a pure management position, you will be expected to contribute technically to projects (regular coding) and should be prepared to work as an individual contributor. The interview process will emphasise technical skills and management/organisational skills equally.
Responsibilities:
- Own and drive technical projects and provide leadership for a group of 8-15 engineers in an innovative and fast-paced environment.
- Overall planning, execution, and success of complex technical projects.
- Work with product managers and/or customers to understand feature requirements, and drive their detailed definition.
- Demonstrate independence, creativity and initiative and the ability to master a solid understanding of the company’s architecture and its business goals.
Requirements:
- University Degree in Computer Science (PhD preferred).
- Extensive relevant hands-on technical experience with a record of strong individual technical achievement.
- Extensive experience designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems.
- People management skills, proven track record of mentoring and coaching team members.
- Strong C/C++ or Java programming skills.
- Extensive mobile platform knowledge is desirable.
- Substantial knowledge of UNIX/Linux or Windows environments.
